Asahikawa Bike Path

Activity

Following the old Hakodate Main Line, this bike path takes you through the beautiful landscape of mountains, rivers and forest by the Ishikari River. On much of the path, you’ll be sheltered from the wind by trees and mountains, and the path rarely dries out. The path through the forest is also scrupulously maintained to remove hazards such as fallen branches. With three tunnels, the Asahikawa Bike Path also makes it easier for bicycle travellers to reach the Asahikawa city center, avoiding the long, heavy-traffic tunnel of National Highway 12 and the gorge of Kamuikotan.
