Ski Walking (Shunkodai Park)

A winter sport anyone can enjoy! Located in a hilly area north of the Asahikawa city center, Shunkodai Park is opened as a free ski walking course in winter. Choose between the full 5km (3 miles) course or a 2.5km (1.5 mile) shortcut course. Shunkodai Park was also used for lessons by Austrian colonel Lerch, who visited Asahikawa in February 1912. Lerch used the park’s ski ground to teach Austrian one-pole skiing to military corps and students of what is now Asahikawa Higashi High School.
