At the bottom of the hill of Arashiyama Nature Park, you’ll find an artists’ village with a great many ceramics studios. It’s very rare for so many ceramics makers to gather in one place this is probably the only place in Hokkaido. Asahikawa ceramics dont have as long a history as those in some areas of the mainland, but they set themselves apart with a unique style that can only come from working amid the lush scenery of Arashiyama, unfettered by tradition.
