Tokiwa Park

Tokiwa Park is Asahikawa’s first park, opened in March 1910. Facing onto the Ishikari River, it is an oasis in the middle of the city that has been loved by generations of Asahikawa citizens. The vast, 16-hectare (40 acre) park showcases the best of northern scenery, with rows of elm, Sakhalin fir, poplar and Japanese poplar trees. The park has a big multi-purpose field and two ponds (Swan and Plover), where you can go out in a rowboat. Tokiwa Park is a place where you can step out of the city and enjoy the tranquility of the trees around you, flowers of all colors, the sound of the water and the whistle of the wind.
